MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) and People's Air Cargo (Paircargo), a public customs bonded warehouse, have introduced a new X-ray scanner that will be used to enhance border security and promote trade.
The Bank of China stated in a statement on its official Facebook page that this is Paircargo's second X-ray machine. The new machine was designed by Astrophysics Inc., an American manufacturer of security scanners.
The scanner has a six-color imaging system that can scan the composition of the material. It can also check whether the package is hidden.

Carmelita Talusan, collector of the BOC-NAIA region, stated that the "strong partnership" between BOC and Paircargo provides better services for importers and brokers.
This year, NAIA Port, with the help of service providers and warehouses, confiscated a total of P157.0 million of smuggled goods.
Since 2018, Paircargo has intercepted unregistered medicines, unregistered beauty products and smuggled luxury goods worth about 95.42 million pesos.
